Welcome to the first edition of WisdomWednesdays! This will be a faith-based, encouraging weekly newsletter for parents. We hope you will find the content uplifting and actionable.
We prove things to our kids every day. Sometimes, we're awesome at it like when someone cuts us off on the road and we smile and say "Well, that person must be in a hurry!" (Does that really happen?? 😂) And sometimes, we're not so good at it, like when we have just had it with the whining and bickering and maybe, sometimes, wevjust throw up our hands and say "I give up!" |

I want to encourage you today. As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit inside of us and He is a game changer! Obviously, right?! When we become Christians, God gives us a whole slew of gifts. That is what makes up our new identity in Christ: In addition to new life, we're adopted into God's family; we're more than conquerers; we have the Peace of Jesus; we have the Joy of the Lord, etc. It all starts from knowing who we are in Jesus. When we embrace our new identity, we can live as Jesus calls us to - in freedom and truth, with no condemnation! Then as the Holy Spirit sanctifies us through His Word and working in us, we can live with nothing to lose, nothing to fear and nothing to prove. We can live like this because God gives us our worth, value, and validation. That may sound counter-intuitive to my original statement of we prove things to our kids every day, but hear me out. When we are living in the freedom and power of God, we don't have to prove anything; we can keep our eyes on the Lord and know that when we do mess up, we are forgiven; God's grace is sufficient. That is a great lesson in grace, forgiveness, and mercy that our kids will see. We don't have to be perfect to show God's love and provision to our kids. I wish I'd known this at a much younger age. And that is how Truthkins were born. Plush toys that can help kids understand that their feelings do not define them, and that their worth and value come from God alone. Feelings aren't good or bad; they give us information, and when we process that information through the Bible, we make sense of it as God intends. |
